Engine Serial# OM620208
Background: This motor was in pieces when I purchased it. Rebuilt the motor BUT upgraded to a 5.7L block and heads and cams. I kept everything from the 5.0L. Engine ran for a short time on the engine stand 2-3 minutes. Installed the engine in the boat, crank but no start. Checked fuel pumps, work intermittently, pressure (43psi) when jogged manually, checked for spark (interm), compression 110+ psi. Pulled motor to diag. issue. Discovered short to ground (blowing 20 amp fuse all the time)on circuit that controls the fuel pump, and IAC.
Checked for continuity between PINK wire at fuse on Item#14 to IAC, no breaks. Checked for continuity between same PINK wire and pin#85 on Fuel pump relay, no breaks. Checked for continuity between PINK wire and PCM555 (connector A pin #23) no breaks.
Fuse will blow every time, even if the IAC and Fuel Pump relay is disconnected.
Is there a pinpoint test available to buy to prove out the PCM?
Has anyone seen this issue or have suggestions?
