5.0 MPI Problems

Problems with my 2006 200 Select (5.0 MPI). I can throttle up to 3000 rpm and the tach drops to 2600 rpm and the boat slightly slows, I can again advance the throttle to 3000 rpm and again the tach drops to 2600 rpm and the boat slightly slows. I can advance the throttle to 3500 rpm and the boat runs great. This is repeatable and on smooth water. Any suggestions?

When was the last time you had a tune up? Post your engine serial number so we can see what fuel cooler you have.

No alarms? Start with changing the Cap, rotor and plugs. Make sure you use the OEM plugs, do not cross them to a cheaper off brand plug.

Read your post on SRowners page on FB. Worst place to seek advice.

Good advice. I had a surging condition in my 5.0L/Alpha I a couple years ago. I did a full tune up: cap, rotor, sensor, wires, and plugs. The problem went away and the engine has run great since. I had neglected to do this during my ownership of the boat so it was time for all those items anyway.
