"This 1997 Yamaha 4hp motor with only 10 total hours running time behaves randomly. Sometimes works normal with a slightly warm water telltale (pee). Sometimes very littler water indicated with mosly steam coming out of telltale hole. Motor seem to slow down a bit in that case, maybe seizing? One day ok, then the next day too hot, then ok again... Any ideas? Does this motor have a thermostat?"

"You need to run a small wire up the hose from the tell tale and clear out any salt or debris. They tend to plug up from time to time, usually the stream begins to get weak or spitty indicating time to clean it."

"The hose is fine. A steady stream of warm water comes out when the motor is working ok. A day before and a day later, no water stream, just a little bit of water and mostly steam. The motor overheats when not working ok. It's totally random whether it's ok or not."
