496 getting hot.

I have a Mercruiser 496 2007 with closed cooling and it has only 150 hours.
It runs perfekt and get about 175-180 degrees when driving 25-30 knts.
If Igive more gas and drives 35-50 the alarm goes of and the temp rises to aprox 190-200.
Where to start, waterpump or mainfolds or what.?

You’ll also probably still want to ensure the impeller and impeller housing is in good condition with no deep grooves in either the brass or stainless steel wear plates that could cause overheating conditions and sound the warning horn plus another item to inspect would be the internal side of the heat exchanger by pulling off the end caps and looking through with a light and carefully clean as needed plus replace the end cap gaskets item number 33,


Sort of a common thing with these engine models being the 496/8.1.

Yes, I might by a new pump beacuse O have allready refunished the housing once at a verkstadshop , it had groves.

How to clean the heatexchange?
