I decided to change the oil in the lower unit because of freezing temps. coming to VA. this week. well it came out a light gray, so it does have a leak. I had planed to keep fishing until jan. 1st when striper season closes. So the question is can this repair what? I don't run far to my 2 favorite spots, (bridges with ramps very close), a 2 mile round trip. Will refill with Hi-Vis oil and only be out 10 to 12 hours till the end of the year.

Change the oil and make sure you change the washers/O-rings whichever you use since it could have been leaking there instead of one of the seals if you are lucky; check the oil for water when you get back and don't leave water in it. Good luck

kimcrwb1, the oil was just milky, the drain and vent screws were very tight, may not have leaked, used vice grips on screwdriver to get enough leverage to break loose screws

If your unit uses O-rings then they may have been tightened too much; that will cause a leak just as much as not tightened too little; may be the same for the crush washers also, I don't know.
