470 mercruiser inboard

hi can anyone help please ive a 74 4 cylinder 470/ 170 hp 3.7 litre petrol inboard with alpha 1 leg all brand new this year when I put in water
I caught a chain which stallled the engine I thought id just run the prop but 3 changes later its not right itll rev to4500 but goes no where fast what else could I have damaged

hi its a sea ray 19 foot boat the engine was purchased new in74 but never fitted until this year it runs perfect he problem is in the drive

is there a connector in the leg made of rubber perhaps

A blown engine coupler
Damaged gears in the unit
Broken shafts in the unit

engine coupler sounds right gears seem ok it drives at low speed
