Does anyone know the weight of a 470 mercruiser engine and leg?

I don't know for sure but I bet the head weighs as much as the block.

I just lugged the leg down to the driveway this afternoon I would bet it weighs about 70 lbs. Say the bell housing weighs about the same so 140 for the drive. Motor probably doesn't weigh as much as a SBC V8 if anybody knows how much a 5.7 weighs. You're probably quite a bit less than 300kg or roughly 675lbs? Just my guess.

I just scoured my old Merc manual for my ex 470 and it does not give any weights. I did have that motor out after pulling the manifolds, head, etc., and it was still way more than I wanted to lift. The block definitely weigths more than the head. I'd questimate that 350 kg or 770 lbs would be close (leg, bell housing, and motor).

I was thinking the same, Im wanting the weight so I can work out what the maximum weight the new diesel should be....

According to this advert the 470 combo is 750lbs
