45hp Mariner No Throttle

"The motor fires up and idles nicely.

It will go into gear both forward and reverse, but there is no throttle response in either direction.

Any suggestions?

"check control linkages there is two, one for gear selection and one for throttle control.

Remove engine cowling with engine off select forwards on controls, you should see movement on the bottom cable ans as u progress forwards with the control lever you should start to see the top cable moving which should open the throttle, and move the timing advance module. it is inst moving then either is has come adrift from its connection point at either the engine or inside the control box."
