"i have inherited a 454 crusader vintage 1978/1979 it was running when taken out about 3 years ago it sat with the plugs out and moisture got in the cylinders and siezed the pistons . i remove the heads and found a light coating of rust . i have tried every concoction of penetrant that i have used in 52 years of metal work and the pistons still wont move, any ideas would be helpful. thanks"

"Even if you get it freed up,

"Even if you get it freed up, the rings are spent, not to mention the cylinders. It will be hard to start it will probably smoke and it won't make proper HP.

You get it running anyway and just when you think you're OK, you take her up to 4000 RPMs. That's when the rust on the wrist pins cuts into the bore in the pistons. At first you only think you hear a little top end noise, then after about 5 minutes it goes off like a grenade. You look down and see a connecting rod peeking it's head through the side of the block.

Been there, done that. You may be able to get the rust off the cylinder walls, but you can't get it off the wrist pins.

Rick"
