"Ok, got the new heads, exhaust manifolds, intake, carb and distributor on, everything is running like a sewing machine- whew...couple of questions- The carb is an Edelbrock Performer Marine carb, runs ok but it is a new carb to us- we usually use the Holley marine carbs and have jets, powervalves etc for the Holleys.
Boat is swinging its factory 14 X 16 prop and my WOT is only about 3500...It seemss as if it should be spinning a few more RPM in my mind- I am used to spinning motors about 4400-4500.
This is an old Century Arabian and I have no idea what the factory WOT is suppose to be..
anyone have ani comments or ideas?? Thanks"

1. Put a timing light on the distributor to see if it's advancing fully.

2. Make sure the secondaries are opening fully (along with the rest of the carb). The throttle cable/ throttle setup might not allow the new carb to open all the way (I've seen this happen).

"I have a 1969 Arabian with the same engine. It would actually tach up to a higher speed when the secondaries were only partial opened. I could only get 3500 WOT but 4400 if I backed off the secondaries some. I then noticed a tab on the secondary throttle shaft that could be adjusted (bent) to limit the full travel of the secondaries. I really don't know if this is an intended procedure, but it works well. I am at 5000 feet elevation. Perhaps this is an effect of the low density. Also note that the Carter (Edlebrock) carbs do not use an air valve, as used on autos. It is pretty much mechanical secondaries."

"According to the Operators Manual for the Chrysler 330 (440B engine) the "Max Recommended rpm" is 4000.

Mine will get up to 4100, but I don't run them at that for long."
