440 reverse rotation cam issue

"I bought a inboard with a 440

"I bought a inboard with a 440, when it idles there is no noise. Bring up the rpm & there is a funny sound that I've never heard before. So I pulled the intake to check things out. If I put pressure on the cam it will move forward toward the front of the block. On the timing chain cover there is threaded opening in front of the cam gear, Is there suppose to be anything there to keep the cam from moving ?"

"I believe the threaded hole is to mount the optional tach drive cable. I don't recall what Chrysler uses to control camshaft position, but some movement is typical. Could be a very loose timing chain.
