"I just put my engine together after overheating it (pick up water pump impeller failed).had water in 1,3,5, cyl. a week later. had everything checked for worpage and cracks, all checked ok. I marked distributer housing, rotor location in relation to intake while at top dead center #1. and reintalled it the same but it won't idle below 1000 rpm. my manual says I need a shunt to time it properly, as a GM mechanic we just grounded a diag. terminal on this engine. any one got any tricks or info as how to time this thing? other than by ear."
