"For some time now i have had a problem with my engine were i cannot switch it off with the key itjust keeps on running, trying to switch off with battery switch does nothing, removing the battery terminals does not stop it, the only thing that stops it are the following :

Removing the ht lead from coil, or emoving the black negative feed wire from the back of the alternator which then allows the key to switch the engine off.

After two years i have had the boat in the water today to set timeing up and so left the black wire from the alternator off and place it staright to the battery, but now there is no charge to the battery.

The alternator was new a year ago when i brought the boat, i have recently replaced the electroic park module in the disrtributar with a 12v coil sytem and removed the resistar from the loom.

the alternator has three wires positive red--brown feed--black grund


Could any one try to help me cure this fault as i have come to a brick wall, other than i have been told that there i a diode pack in the alternator which may be faulty

could some advise me as to what resitor is needed, or the diode that was mentioned is that the one in the alternator or another one that is need to be installed, would you know was values of the diode or resistor i need to buy as the link above is not working.
