I have a maxum 2400 scr fitted

I have a maxum 2400 scr fitted with a 2000 4.3 EFI MERCRUISER.
My question is
Can i replace the impellor in the sea water lower pump with the boat in the water?
Or will i flood the boat when i remove the two water pipes?
