"Switch box is tempermental. M

"Switch box is tempermental. Motor is on a pontoon. If I crank it with no firing, I have to pull the cover and thump (percussive maintenance) the switch box, then it fires right up. It needs to be replaced. Sould I use Sierra Marine 18-5787 box or use an aftermarket CDI 114-4911 unit? Or does it really matter?"

"check or remove the mercury switch, its on the left exhaust plate, it might be sticking. you can also remove the bl/yl wire on the switch box going to the key to verify the wiring is good."
