40 hp Mariner year model help

I just bought a Mariner 40 hp that has a serial number 676s 100306. Could someone please help? Thanks

Could you check the last two digits again,'cause it ain't showing,on the charts. 676A 100391 is the start number for a 40E and that comes in as 1979 676 denotes the 40 HP,A is the engine model, the 10XXXX indicates E electric start.The S = short shaft.

The way the "serial" range number works is a start number,which,in this case,is a five digit number through to a six digit number.My brain got fried looking at numbers that the five digits didn't compute
