"I have a mid year 40 h/p Johnson that runs out of fuel on the top end. When engine starts to die if you pump the bulb it will take off. Problem started at the end of last boating season. I replaced all the fuel hoses that I have found. New clamps on the hoses, removed impulse fitting cleaned it out, took apart the VRO pump and fuel pump found no problems. Replaced primer bulb and hoses with OEM. Checked vent fitting on tank seemed okay. New fuel in tank. This problem does not happen on every trip out to the lake but most of the time. Engine starts fine and feels strong."
