" I have a 1995 40 horse Evinr
" I have a 1995 40 horse Evinrude with oil injection. It has always ran great. This year I have had a problem. I get an solid alarm (no beeping just solid) and then it starts running rough. It runs ok at an idle but when I put the gas to it she runs rough. The first time it did it I took a compression test and everything was ok. I put new plugs in again went for a ride then parked it. I had the boat out for a ride twice since the new plugs. The first time it ran great the second time it did what I have been explaining. I was out just idling around and the alarm went off. I gased it (3000 rpm) to go back to the dock and it ran rough and would not go above about 3000 rpm. Although it runs good at an idle, it seems to initially start acting up (alarm) when I am idling around than I gas it and I can tell it's messed up again One thing I did notice is that the water stream is not as strong as it was last year. It doesn't seem to be getting hot but it might be. What would this have to do with running rough? Is there a low water flow sensor that keeps it from idling too high? Any help would be appreciated. "
