4 stroke engine stalls when I accelerate.

2004 johnson 4 stroke (Suzuki)
I just put in a new fuel pump, VST, lines, filter and new gas!
Runs really good but at about 20 mph is starts stalling up and down-up and up down. Tips?
 
Rev limiter is kicking in.

Common problem, and a possible cause is the neutral switch. I don't have your model number.

Model # J115PL4SR. If your talking about the neutral switch at the motor, it's broken. So I cut it off and twisted the wires together. But why would the cause this issue?
 
That's it. No doubt.

With the wires twisted together, the EMM thinks the engine is in neutral at all times. It will not let the revs go higher than approx. 2500 if the neutral switch tells it that the engine is in neutral.

That switch is not possible to bypass.
 
Gotcha! I go ahead and order a new one. I thought I may have screwed something else up when I changed out the SVT and fuel pump. Man that was a job. That's the first time I ever changed one. Thanks so much for your help!
