We have a 270 mercruiser in ou

We have a 270 mercruiser in our skiboat. We need to get 3-4 more mph out of it. Will the bolt on 4 barrel carby & manifold to suit do what we require? if not what would. We have changed the prop around several times but to no joy. What do you reckon?

"Carb & manifold might do

"Carb & manifold might do it, but changing the camshaft will help to take more advantage of the carb & manifold change. There's no end to what you can do. change the carb & manifold and better flowing exhaust manifolds, heck a fuel injection system, or drop in a "stroker" engine.

Depends on how much you want to spend and how far into the mods you want..

How many people on the avg are in the boat ? 6 ?, leave 3 at the dock, that'll gain you a couple mph..

Make sure the bottom's clean, and waxed, that'll help too.."
