the expansion plug located within/between the engine mounting bracket popped partially out. Best was to repair/replace it? engine oil is clean and engine runs fine at normal temps, but water comes in around the plug at moderate rate while running..

get a socket that fits the ID and wack it back in with care and you may be good
if not you need to replace it.......

Also once the freeze plug is back in and boat is up to propper temp and propper PRESSURE you will want to check and verify that there is no water in the oil for a while.....

Got the plug back in. What a job that was considering the plug is directly behind the motor mount with minimal clearence. A one hand operation while standing on my head to do it. Plug was totally out, not partially. Hopefully this will hold, it was very tight going back in and I believe theres minimal pressures behind it. Is that correct? Thanks.

Yes

Like I said now that there will be normal water pressure watch oil for water contamination.

There is a reason why a "freeze plug" popped out in the first place.

It can happen and no damage occure and I have seen many do this but just be suspicous.

Hopefully there was some antifreeze but two plugs in front of motor mounts, the old soder type, let go no water in oil,see no cracks, high conversion exhaust manifolds, good ,bought this boat was winterize in 24,I feel it was not winterize properly, as I know.

Ran air in to dip stick to move oil around, not milky water, did take all spark plugs out no water came out when cranking with battery, put mistey oil in cylinders first, turns revelations many times, still clean oil,oil pressure shows good when cranking over ,did take coil wire off.so on..hoping for a peace of mind, really well cared boat .

I remember fixing a few floors back in the day, of all few boats, fiberglass, stringers, that was a time of learning, now 40 years later, won't even look at a soft floor..

Make sure those block drains really drain; sometimes you really have to dig them out to get them to fully drain. If a core plug pops out you can be sure that one or both didn’t drain fully. The pain of getting to the low mounted drain plugs on GM V6s & V8s has ruined many engines from freeze damage. I use a set of picks to dig them out every season and that seems to help.

Yea I found that the drain plug when open. Nothing, the owner had no clue said a boat marine yard did the winterize, lol,2024 saw paperwork, but it was not done right. I know that, few reasons I found out when I got into this i bought the boat 12/6/25 very nice boat but the owner had no clue to winterize took the mechanic word .when observed the motor when I saw a drain plug gone behind motor mount, nothing in bilge the observed port side other plug with hole from the middle where the had the solder plug in the middle gone. **** me.but after alli have done check oil ran air to mix up. No milkshake see no visible cracks, no rusty marks, high rise manifolds brand new looked good ,to cold here in new hampshire, to fire up, as I said free revolution turns by hand, and even disconnected coil battery starts ,feel like I may have gotten lucky, could taste some bit of antifreeze, getting a big tub in a day or to and going to fill with antifreeze, and run that engine 😀 i'm anxious to go from eighty five percent to a hundred percent.Knowing that it made it too time period of twenty twenty four till december.Fifth of twenty twenty five who knows what really happened. But it's my problem now, hopefully I don't have to put another motor in.Guy took very good care of the boat.Cosmetically, just don't know about the engine.A hundred percent.I'm better than I used to know about it.But he was clueless to what I told him.So we'll find out soon
