Clymer manual, in supplement chapter 16 says 4.3 tks. Ignition is controlled by ecm. So service bulletin. From mercruiser ground purple/w to set in base time mode. At 650-680 rpms. Does tks time at 10 or 8

Most # are gone, rite , is ( nomenclature plate ?) Tag on starboard I think . tag on port side, with v drive.. Tks engine what book says , i thank it's a iac valve, and they are calling it a enrichment valve. I know how enrichment works with 2 stroke.
Did tks carbed. Motors 2010 have a different accuator than the standard . iac . or does it have. A enrichment for fast start?

Say what?

When a TKS engine starts up cold, there is an auxiliary "jet" that feeds more fuel to the engine. When the engine warms up an electric current flows into the body of the TKS ( that's the part you see hung on the side of the carb) heating it up. This causes a piston to move cutting off the "enrichment". On my 5.7 TKS, you can hear the change in air flow into the engine with the enrichment and as the engine warms up , the sound changes and the idle drops from 1100 ish down to 650.

Merc "oversold" the TKS system. If the carb bowl is full, i.e the engine hasn't sat for a week, the engine will pretty much start just by turning the key, although I find that a single short "pump" of the throttle before cranking helps things. IF the engine has sat and the gas in the bowl has evaporated, then you have to crank the engine until the electric fuel pump refills the carb bowl... which can take awhile. If the wireway from my helm to the engine compartment wasn't so jammed on my boat, I'd install a momentary push button at the helm which would temporarily "short" the "no oil pressure switch" on the block to get the fuel pump to run without cranking.
