Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me determine if I have a problem or not, i had new exhaust risers and manifolds fitted to my 2 4.3L mercruiser's 6 months ago, they now appear extremely corroded (see pictures), just doesn't look right at only 6 months. Did my mechanic do something wrong, this boat is only run for about 4hrs once a week in salt water. Are my engines at risk of failure. Any advice would be much appreciated.

you`ll get the same answer as on iboats, something is leaking .manifolds and risers DO NOT look like that after 6 months.

not sure what brand they used, I'm having engine problems and the company that installed the risers and Manifolds are refusing to accept responsibility

Saltwater has done a number on them...they need to come off and be refurbished if they are not GLM; reinstall w/OE gaskets. Cut your losses if they are GLM and trash them. Install OSCO ro BARR manifolds and risers w/new bolts and OE gaskets. Install a salt neutralizing system to reduce corrosion. There is also a spray solution to use on the exterior of the engines.

Chances are they did not paint them. Most aftermarket manifolds need a coat of engine paint to keep them from looking like this. One looks like a gasket is seeping.
