4.3L 190HP,Alpha One goes forward in reverse

What is wrong and how do I fix it before I smack another pier?

Well to start, What was the last thing done to the boat? who worked on it. Was any major parts changed and did YOU work on it? If so what did you do?

It worked fine just one hour prior. Semi rough day on the chesapeake going against the wind and taking a beating. No strange noises and boat shifted nicely from neutral to forward. I suspect vibrations knocking something loose

It goes forward regardless of gear shift position

broked shift cable housing allowing just the sheath to move. pull the drive and look to see what moves.

Start at the control box, look for a broken cable or controller. Then work your way back to the drive.

I bet the pivot lever arm came out of the U aluminum shift cable end. The part with the wheel on it (lever) as per parts sheet.

we`ll know when he takes the drive off and reports whats moving and whats not moving.

I would not pull the drive until I confirmed everything else was in working order.
