2006 Engine with Alph Drive has about 270 hours on boat. Use boat only about once a year. Put in water this year, the temp gage read about 180 when it has read about 160 in the past. Under higher RPM, the overtemp alarm would intermitantly sound. Not on solid.
I took it in for repair, they replaced water pump impeller and thermostat. Had same problem. Took it back and they replaced temp gauge sender assy. Same problem, gauge still reads about 180. Repair tech came out to lake to run boat. They never had the alarm go off when running in the shop on the hose but did see the temp gauge read 180. Based on infrared temp sensor, says engine is running 160-165. Suggestion is that gauge is also bad. Determined that the alarm is definitly coming from the overtemp sensor by disconnection sensor. Now it is recommended that I replace the overtemp sensor.
I just seems odd to me that both the temp gauge and overtemp sensor are failing at the same time. Has anyone seen something like this or could ther be another cause. I did install a new battery in boat this spring before I used it.
