4.3 mercruiser won't accelerate past 200rpms

Hello, I am new the this forum and want thank all for having me join..

I have 2003 4.3 mercruiser that runs great off the trailer.the problem accuses when i stop then try to accelerate. The engine starts and idles fine. When I try to accelerate, the rpms will reach 1500 or so then hit the wall. The engine shutters and bogs. If I gather the throttle or back off and ease up, I can get to 2200 or so. I am really baffled by this since it runs so good otherwise. I can run for hours without any problem. It's just when I stop for an hour or so then try to go.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
 
Ayuh,..... It's starvin' for fuel,... Check the Contents of the filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline,.....

I will check the filter and replace. It seems strange how it will run fine until I stop for a period of time. I even left the hatch open to cool thinking to was a heat soak issue. The engine was barely warm when we left the cove. It still just wouldn't accelerate.
I will report back on the progress.

I replaced the fuel filter and ignition coil. I checked the fuel pressure and it is 43-45 psi. The problem remains. It seems that letting it sit after running has something to do with the issue. I stopped for 5 minutes or so and it ran fine. I then stopped and swam for am hour or so . When I went tom leave, the problem was back. I managed to get about 2800 rpms by easing the throttle up. If I advanced to quickly, the engine would fall on it's face and shutter. I pull back the throttle and advance it back up very slowly, I could gain a few rpms at a time. I am thinking it's an ignition issue since it runs great and doesn't miss a beat off the trailer. Cap. rotor and plugs are next on the list to eliminate. I feel that is just maintenance and can't hurt.
