Hi all. Been reading up on my Johnson 3hp motors and been trying to restore a 1960-61. Think I'm almost done. So far last year I got the thing running replaced water impeller, coils, points, condensers, wires found original plugs for it j4c's I think would have to double check. Last year I had it running then it died. This spring I pulled the flywheel and found a wire stripped from touching the the cam shaft. Replaced the coil re set the points and started it up. Adjusted the needles and she runs again... Problem I'm having it runs and runs well but it seems to have fits where it loses power. Not a lot like a cylinder kicking out or anything. Just seems like I'm cutting the throttle by an inch or so on the lever every 20 seconds or so for maybe 5-10 seconds. Any ideas would be welcome and thanks in advance.
