3hp mercury Needs help

I just bought a used outboard

I just bought a used outboard ser# oA869338 -I would like to know what year it is and what gas?oil mix. .I c
checked compression ~110lbs and changed the spark and cleaned the carb .New gas and she fired right up . After 2 days of puttering around while fishing it died -Turned out to be a fouled plug . \After changing it I got another 2 days before it fouled again . Seems to be a trend. Any ideas as to what I should look at next? Thanks

Did you play with the E-clip t

Did you play with the E-clip that holds the metering rod in the carb? There are 4 positions.

"0G574241 and below use a #92

"0G574241 and below use a #92 main get. Above uses a #80. Somebody could have taken the carb off of anything. BPR6HS-10 is the right plug. Use NGK only in Merc's, unless otherwise instructed to do so in the manual. There are differances in the carb setup based in CDI or Magneto ign."
