"I just bought a 67' 3hp Johnson. I do not know much about these engines, and am having a hard time trouble shooting it. For one it had been sitting for about 2 years in a dry basement. I put some mixed gas in it and changed the plugs, and it started right up. It runs good for a bit, dies out, then runs good again. It also doesn't seem to run as fast as it should, certainly doesnt sound as if it is, as the motor is not whining at all... Seems like my 34lb thrust trolling motor would outrun it as is?? Anything I can do to get a bit more out of it? Any help would be really appreciated."
