Long time reader, first time posting.
I just got a 1960 Crestliner from our family estate with a 1978 35hp Johnsonand a 1965 6hp kicker. It’s been in storage at least 5 years that I canremember. Rebuilt the impeller, plugs, carb, new fuel line, pump, primer andnew gas tank.
With muffs on it fires right up and idles great. When I putit on the water it runs perfect with smooth power until I go over halfthrottle. If I hit ¾-WOT it just starts to plane out, then immediately dies. Nosputtering like fuel issues I’ve had in the past, dies like I just turned offthe ignition. Now when I put it in Neutral and try to restart it will crank fora second then the RPMs will shoot up high then immediately dies until it sitsfor approx 15 min then the cycle continues. If I keep the throttle at ½ then itwill run around the lake all day.
I think it’s electrical, I went thru the fuel system 6times last week. I have to go back to work now and won’t make it up north tillnext month but I am open to any suggestions you guys may have.
Thanks in advance!
