"I have a 1999 Sea Ray 310 Sundancer with two 350Mag EFI's. I bought it used last spring and have had nothing but problems with the starboard engine. The dealer ate all the work that was done to it since it didn't run right when I trialed it but right before I put it away for the winter, they claimed the latest issues were fuel related.

I know there is no water in it both because we used the boat every weekend and I added the weekends fuel each week. Plus, I did the dipstick test down the sender hole with the color changing stuff.

I want to disprove them so I plan (hope) to borrow a portable outboard tank, fill it with fresh gas, and plum it into the starboard engine. My plan is to get a coupler and hose and simply connect it into the primary inlet on the fuel filter. From the manuals and visual inspection, it looks like the fuel return simply goes back through the fuel filter. The line runs directly from the tank into the primary inlet at the fuel filter. So I'll just cap off the tank feed and connect the test tank.

Is this the correct procedure?

Thanks very much.

"Yes, just be sure you locate

"Yes, just be sure you locate the test tank at a safe and stable location and be sure it is venting properly."

Very good. Thanks for the help

Very good. Thanks for the help. I planned on strapping the tank to the seat supports so it can't slide around which gives a direct angle without touching anything down to the fuel filter. I'll put plenty of towels under the filter when I change it. When I change the filter I contain 99% of the fuel so hopefully this will be the same.

Thanks again.

Jon
