350CID will not idle

"I picked up this used 350 with 4barrel carb dropped it in, hooked up and it will not idle..Everthing seems ok..What should I be looking for????"

"The idle "circuit" is

"The idle "circuit" is actually a passage that bypasses the throttle plate and provides a richer mixture. What may have happened is that crud from ethanol ended up blocking this system which on most engines is not a straight passage inside the carb. If you are qualified, rebuild the carb.

Other possibilities: Air leak around the secondary butterfly, just plain mis adjustment of the idle mixture/set point, or timing problems."
