I acquired a 2003 SeaRay that came with a malfunctioning oil pressure gauge. It reads 80 PSI as soon as the ignition is turned on. Only gains a few more pounds after it is started. Replaced sender and then gauge. Same results.

Is it possible I have a mis-matched sender/gauge combo? Twice in a row? Does anyone know the proper resistance for this oil gauge? Other suggestions?

I have installed the Smart Craft Monitor SC 1000 and have accurate readings of all paramenters. If you have a Mercruiser newer than 2002 you can do the same. You will end the guessing wiht oil pressure and water temperature plus have alarms to warn you

"It may not be the gage, Take out the sender and install a mechanical gage and verify that your pressure is normal, then go after wiring or instruments. It could be the relief valve in the oil pump."
