"I have a 1967 Chris-Craft Corsair 25ft. Origianally this boat was manufactured with a 283 smallblock V8.
In 1988, I installed a 350 smallblock. It runs very well, but have always wanted to install a 454. Will this improve fuel consumption? I know it's a larger engine, however it shouldn't have to work as hard as the 350.
I finally found one at a great price. Everything will hook-up except for the through hull exhaust. I need to find exhaust elbows that I can install to fit the holes in the transom that were for the smallblock. Any suggestions?"

I agree with the gents' postings. Only suggestion i'd add is to use AT LEAST 4" exhaust openings unless you know you'll never use full throttle. The engine will be much happier with the least backpressure in the exhaust
