350 Crusader Stalling Problem

"Hello all, It's been a while since I've been on the forum but I find myself here with a problem you may be able to give me some insight on. Lately, My STBD engine will not idle correctly. It runs great above 1200 rpm but as soon as I bring it down to idle the tach jumps up and down from 1000 to 400 and back. It sounds like it wants to bog out and then eventually does. If I put in in gear, it stalls out almost immediately. I also notice a slight stumble when I accellerate.

I've changed the fuel/water seperators, drained and replaced the fuel in the tank, replaced the screen filter in the carb and assured that there is proper fuel flow from the fuel pump. Yes, It's E10, and I have both motors running off the same tank at the moment, and port runs fine. I've also changed, the plugs, wires, caps, oil, and resistors. I've even gone as far as replacing the fuel lines in case the E10 was clogging up the lines/carbs. The condition exists wether the engine is hot or cold. I've also made sure that the fuel lines ar not near any hot hoses/components to avoid fuel vaporization. I've even replaced the batteries......

Does anyone have any ideas or is anyone experiencing the same problems???

Ps, I'm also noticing what looks like a slight amount of fuel on the water from the STBD exhaust. I could be wrong but that's what it looks like on the water. "

"Try this: Install a Holley fuel pressure regulator before the carb (30 bucks on-line) and adjust it to 4 psi. For some dumb *ssed reason, replacement fuel pumps are putting out more pressure than a carb can hold. In myy case, the carb floods above 5 psi and the fool pump puts out 7 1/2! No more problems since I added thew pressure regulator.

Well it appears that the Carb

Well it appears that the Carb on the STBD engine is NOT the same as the one on the Port. A previous owner replaced it and did not match them. The idle jets were definately gummed up and after a thorough cleaning and some tweaking we got it idling smoothly but it's still spitting a tiny bit of unburnt fuel from the exhaust. I'm going to pull it off over the winter and try to find a matching carb and rebuild both so I start out fresh. Thanks for the input guys !
