Ok guys need a little direction:

Coming in the other night, facing a lite head wind, medium choppy water, on a 14 foot john boat.. I am a car nut, but limited on boat motor knowledge. I had it at half throttle cruising in and all of a sudden, if it was a car, the transmission started to slip. I backed off throttle and then eased back into and I started going faster, then again it seemed as if it was slipping and it seemed to rev up but it wasn't pulling any harder..

Does this make sense?

Thanks for any direction or help with this..

Thanks for the reply... Just a few days before, the boat was running great at full throttle.. Why would I need to try another prop?

Thanks Ric,

It seemed like something was slipping, as if it had no pull/torque. The motor reved up, but did not increase speed. So pull pin and remove prop? What do I look for?

you can place a mark on both the prop and the prop hub, run the motor again underload, get it to do the same high rpm rev with no speed increase, remove the prop and see if the two marks are still lined up. if so it's a good prop, if not the hub has spund and needs to be replaced.
