I have a 76 35hp johnson Sea H

I have a 76 35hp johnson Sea Horse. Recently when i try to gas the motor it just spins. I know that the props i have been using are ok. It runs ok till the time I do not bear down on the motor. It has a splined shaft and the assemebly seems to be in perfect order. If anyone knows whats goig on please respond

"Are you saying that in the past the engine with this propeller functioned properly but now when you apply throttle, the engine increases in rpms as it should BUT the boat does not?

If so, I would strongly suspect that the propeller has a spun hub. A propeller actually consists of three components, a bronze hub, the propeller itself, and vaulcanized rubber between the two. If the rubber fails, that allows the hub to spin within the propeller.

The cure would be to either have the propeller re-hubbed at a propeller repair shop or replace the propeller."

On the side of the exhaust housing there is a small plate (held by two screws) remove it and check to see if your shift connecter is still connected.
