35 hp evinrude. which era are better 70's or 80's

just curious are the 70's better than the 80's when it comes to evinrude 35 hp.motor???
parts still easy to get, better electronics,better proformance.

Not much changed on that model from first year to last production.---The early motors had some ignition problems with the magnetos.-----------------Anything from 80 and up is quite relable.-------Most " consumable " parts are easy to get.

We had terrible luck with the early ones. I would go so far as to call them lemons. They overheated and burned up if running in water with any weeds at all. Avoid any of them with the water inlet on the front of the gearcase. However, the later ones with the water inlets on the side of the gearcase are excellent motors. I have an '84 and would rate it as one of the best motors I've ever owned.
