My 35 hp Chrysler runs great

My 35 hp Chrysler runs great when I fist take it out. The engine is smooth and quiet and starts right up after it has been shut off a short time. The problem is that after it is off for an hour or so it will not restart. I noticed there is no vacuum in the gas tank. It appears that it might be flooded. could gas continue to fill the carb after I shut the motor off??

" Chris...if your float valves inthe carburators are not closing properly it could flood...There should not be vacuum in the tank, that would mean the vent is not working right. Clean the crbs, make sure the needlee valves are good and float is not stuck. Make sure the tank is vented. just a Thought "
