"Hi there, just bought this 33, late 60's Seahorse. Was not starting.. forced gas through the venturi, fired up, immediately shutting off. Starving. Cleaned and rebuilt carb. Fires up now, running only on one cylinder, (top cylinder), however, both cylinders have spark. Where's my starting point?

-Timing?
-Mixture screw specs?
-Does this thing have reed valves?

Please help.. in-laws coming. I'm a Merc guy, been trained only on Merc, but like OMC, however, not familiar, although principles are the same.

Try and email me with response, easier to check with my cell phone. [email protected]

PLEASE!!!!"

"You need to check spark prope

"You need to check spark properly with a tester! Laying plugs on the block is a waste of time. Set it up so that you force the ignition to jump a gap of 1/4" or better, then you know that you have " spark ""

"Sorry, guess I had to be more

"Sorry, guess I had to be more specific... used a spark tester purchased from Mercury... so yea, was testing it, "properly". But thanks."

"Lyle, on the OMC's they call the reeds, Leaf's. And yes, they are on this model - a set-up for each cylinder. They are located behind the carb. I will include a pic from BRP website.
