"I have a early 60s model 33 HP Evinrude Ski-Twin outboard. Among other questions, I was wondering if anyone knew the oil/gas ratio for that year engine? Also, does anyone have a suggestion for loosening up the cables on the twin lever controls? Someone told me you could heat the cables and it would help with the lubrication. Any truth to that?"

"Mixture ratio is 50/1. If you're speaking of the cables themselves being tight, that is the inner steel cable doesn't move easily, you could try WD-40 or some penetrating oil of some kind to free them up BUT I strongly suggest that you do not attempt to apply heat to them.
