This seems a pretty common question but here goes... I have a single 318 with temp guages on coolant and both manifolds. At idle and low revs temp holds steady at around 175 deg, at higher cruise revs temps rise to around 200 on coolant and 175 on the manifolds. I have used a temp gun to check the guages and they appear to overead by about 10 deg. Is this still to hot? I have replaced raw water pump hoses, sea strainer and sea cock. The heat exchanger is a cylinder type on the left side of engine would this be the next thing to look at? and if so, is it a job for an amateur to remove and clean out or just throw it and by a new one? Any thought's appreciated.
