318 question

I previously asked a couple questions on switching from a M318 to a LM318 (1968 - up). The new question i have is . . . If you are looking from the front (where the water pump is) to the back on the M318 older big block 318) the place where the water enters the engine block is at the top, front, left (right beside the intake manifold) . . . WHERE is it on the LM318? Does anyone know why this old Houseboat/engine would have a clutch (with hydrol. lines running to it) on it? The control that puts it into gear is on the Dana outdrive.

as far as i know the water intake will be the same unless you're going from raw water cooling to a closed circuit system. as far as the clutch question, you're probably looking at the pressure plate that transmits the torque of the engine to the transmission...the hydraulic lines should go to a cooler to cool the transmission fluid.

I have a 1971 Silverqueen with the LM318 and Dana outdrive. These old houseboats had a hydraulic actuated clutch operated by a power steering pump. When shifting, the clutch automatically disengages allowing the drive to shift easier and smoother.

I've got a 1971 Kingscraft with this set up but previous owner disconnected the cable and valve in the hydraulics loop that actuated the clutch. I'm having a devil of a time figuring out how it works. Seems like the clutch will always be disengaged when idling in nuetral which doesn't seem right. What kind of controls work the clutch/shift cable. Can you shed any light capnlazy?

i also need help with that pump actuator and slave cylinder im not sure how to reconnect the hoses all together i dont see anything for return line ?? anyone have a schematic on this or can tell me how to route the hoses ?? thanx
