318 or 350

I got 28' Silverton that came with frozzen and striped 440, need to repover it,I have one 318 that came out of '87 dodge van, and one 350 marine. I understand that the hp is abaut the same, but the torque is not. Any ideal what speed and gas consumption can I espect? The boat weights + - 10,000lb.

Either would be similar in performance, but you'll need a bunch of marine parts to adapt either. I'd go with the 350 Chevy--easier to find parts.

PS: Don't think that a smaller motor will improve your gas mileage. The 440 would make better gas mileage than either of these smaller, harder working motors.
