"Trying to idenify what motor

"Trying to idenify what motor is in boat.The #s on the block are as follows 8 or 9 418496/8860.Any help would be appreciated,there is no id tag anywhere on this motor it is in a 74 silverton."
 
My engine manual says 3418496

My engine manual says 3418496 = '71-'74 360 ci

yes that is a 3

check on the front left of the block just under the head for displacement #

"sorry Dave,But the # is on the right hand side of the motor facing the flywheel.It's not on the end with the water pump.Another poster on a different site said that if it is a (3rd party block he wouldnt have any idea what it is?These are not the original blocks as far as I know.Thanks for your input.any additional info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.These are supposed to be marine blocks maybe that has some thing to do with the placement of the casting #'s.There are no #"s on the front of the block by the deck,either side"

"side of block just just infront of starter should say 318, 340, 360, also the 360 are external ballanced will have the front dampener with a big ballance weight, or a cut out, 318, and 340 have no ballancing. My 340 said "340 M" under intake"
