"The original cast iron intake

"The original cast iron intakes on my 360's are slanted to help offset the angle of the installation of my engines. (I have inline transmissions but v-drives may sit level) The carbs must be nearly level to function properly. If you use an auto intake you will probably need to use a wedge between the intake and the carb.

Here's an example:

Thanks for the input Peter. I apreciate it. SO with that said time for dumb questions of the day. Assuming it is level with the v drives. Would an alluminium after market intake be okay? Edelbrock or something of the likes?

"Since you have a closed cooling system with antifreeze, I would think it would be a great upgrade. As Jeff once pointed out, the aluminum Edlebrock intake bolted to a cast iron block and heads would not last long in the electrolyte of raw water, especially brackish water. But antifreeze has lots of corrosiion inhibitors and most auto radiators are aluminum."

"Peter,
Thanks again for the piece of mind.... Trying to use your experience to save me three steps forward and six steps back syndrome! Much apreciated."

I installed Weiland Accelerato

I installed Weiland Accelerator aluminum manifolds on my 360's. I have v-drives and fresh water cooling. Perfect running so far. Not sure on the 318's but I am pleased.
