"My 30m 1986 mariner coughs and jerks at idle.I took apart carb, cleaned checked float.Mid range and WOT seem to be fine. just put new fuel pump and hoses. Set air screw at 1.5 rounds from light seat. tinkered with idle screw with no avail..any suggestions are appreciated."

"Warm it thoroughly, tie the boat to the dock, put it in gear, and adjust the idle SLOWLY, a 1/4 turn at a time, waiting half a minute for each tweak 'till it settles down. You gotta be patient!

"Thanx FastJeff..I performed those earlier, but just left it trailered. After getting the motor home,.Their was slight oil
seeping from around the top plug.I removed both plugs to inspect. They both looked oily film coated as if possibly fouled.Where would the oil come from? did not look like oily gas,but a thin black oilfilm running down outside out head from top plug.knowing its a 2 stroke, perhaps wrong oil ratio? what plug is recommended, and what oil ratio mix is good...here are the serials.

dont know if they come for this motor, but i run GATOR plugs by champion in my 1961 evinrude 18hp
they burn snow white..."
