30hp Johnson outboard

Do I need to put any kind of sealant on gaskets? Replacing thermostat, carb, and cleaning out heads of salt buildup. It’s a 1987 2 stroke

Manuals state nothing on the carb. Thermostat is fairly low pressure, I’ve never put anything on a T-stat if using a new gasket.
New head gaskets often have printing on them, as in “install dry”
