300 hp vs 330 hp 440

I have a '71 300 hp 440 th

I have a '71 300 hp 440 that needs a rebuild. I believe that the only difference between mine and the later 330 hp is the compression ratio via different pistons. Can I put the 300 hp pistons in this motor? Or should I shave the heads to get more power. I use it for skiing.

"I found a nice marine oriented cam from Lunati's VooDoo series. The 440 model is #60300 and goes for about $120 on ebay with lifters. A couple weeks ago a post here directed me to Glenwoodmarine.com for set of beautiful exhaust manifolds, NOT cast iron. Unfortunately for me they ONLY make them for 440's not small blocks....Have fun!"
