30 evinrude pop & spit while idleing

cranks and runs fine but pops like its missing.can pull spark plug wire off one cylinder and it stops popin.but put it on and starts again.then pull wire off other cylinder and it quits poppin.

Classic symptoms of the motor running too lean at idle or throttle open too early.---------Try opening the low speed mix and check the throttle opening.-------Has that long linkage to the throttle arm on the exhaust side been adjusted by chance

That would be the first thing to look at.-------No need to rush out to buy new parts !----A bit of trouble shooting goes a long way.-----Is this motor " new to you " by chance.------Is this a 1956 model or a 1990 model ?

its not new to me.its an 85 maybee 86.it set up a long time and the primer broke when i was tryin to get back running.i bought one put it on and took carb off cleaned it up.put it all back together it crancked right up.i was adjusting it and noticed the pisser not working so i cut it off bought a water pump.put it on cranked it up,it was pissin good and here i am.

Check that engine reaches correct operating temp on BOTH cylinders. Use an IR temp gun and check the color/conditions of the spark plugs. A 'cold' cylinder will be a lean cylinder and it will sneeze. Is it lean/cold because of ignition, thermostat, fuel supply? Even a comp test might be useful.

Let us know what the resolution of this is. What I'm hearing is that if it pops and stalls at idle, setting the idle mixture a bit richer MAY be part of the solution. What's the reason for the "pop".....where is the detonation? Crankcase?
